Relax and paint Burgundy in pastels this autumn

30 September - 6 October 2012

mj_red.jpgThis event offers you a sound and fundamental approach to painting using the basic principles of drawing, composition, colour harmony and technique supported by daily demonstrations in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. I paint alongside you and guide you step-by-step through the planned progress of each painting. Whether you are a beginner or experienced pastel painter you will be encouraged and inspired to give your imagination full freedom of expression through painting with pastels. Using my ‘Painting Plan’ approach, the programme begins with an explanation of the importance of thumbnail sketches and the use of value studies before moving on to cover the other aspects of producing successful paintings as the days progress.

Tuition is given in the mornings either in the spacious studio or out in the countryside. Afternoons are free for everyone to enjoy themselves painting or seeking inspiration by exploring the beautiful countryside around Les Cerisiers. The event takes place in the beautifully renovated barn studio and accommodation is either in the house or just a stone’s throw from the venue.

Malcolm has been painting in pastels since 1992. He is a member of the Pastel Guild of Europe and Professional Associate of the SAA (Society for All Artists). A regular exhibitor in Norfolk as well as in London, South Carolina and Spain, his paintings are owned by private and corporate collectors in the UK, Eire, Europe and the USA. Malcolm divides his time between painting and drawing, demonstrating, delivering workshops and tutoring. He is a regular contributor to ‘The Pastel Scribbler’ and 'Paint'. Further examples of his work and details of his painting holidays and workshops can be found at http://www.malcolmjarvisart.co.uk
